Woven with precious scale and delicate artistry, this petite flower basket from the early 20th century is a lovely example of traditional Chinese basketry. The small basket is woven of thin strips of lacquered bamboo, shaped with a square-to-round form and a high, arched handle. An array of weave patterns creates a patchwork of textures, from the lobed, melon-like sides to the braided finish at the rim.
