About the Item
This shallow basket of hand-woven bamboo is a beautiful example of traditional Chinese basketry. Used for harvesting grain or as a kitchen vessel for food prep, the large, round tray is expertly woven of thin bamboo strips to a double-lined form with contrasting patterns. The top is tightly woven to a simple twill pattern, while the underside has a lovely, open lattice weave with a layer of bamboo fiber batting for added tension. Rich with character, the round basket is ideal today as a fruit bowl, a serving vessel or a storied home for sundry objects.
