About the Item

This is a Chinese Export porcelain bowl of mid size, hand painted in a blue and white floral pattern, which we date to the mid 18th Century, Circa 1770 or possibly slightly earlier. The bowl is well potted with a fairly high, slightly undercut foot and plain rim. The glaze colour is a soft white with a light blue tinge. The bowl is hand decorated all around the outside, in varying shades of under-glaze cobalt blue with various floral sprigs and flowers, all between an upper and lower blue ring. The inside of the bowl is also hand painted with a floral sprig to the centre within double circles, plus a continuous border pattern just below the inner rim. The top of the rim has a cafe-au-lait mid brown hand painted finish. The bowl has a good ring to it when tapped with a finger. Overall a very nice blue and white Chinese Export bowl from the mid 18th Century.
