About the Item
An ornate Chinese Export porcelain covered tureen, richly decorated with hand painted figural scenes in vibrant famille rose enamels. The exterior features finely detailed depictions of courtly figures and children within a garden pavilion, framed by scrolling borders and auspicious motifs.
The domed lid is decorated with floral sprays and symbols of prosperity, topped with a gilded knob finial. The gilded side handles, showing light wear from age, add an elegant touch and further enhance the vessel’s decorative appeal.
Crafted with both artistry and utility, tureens such as this were highly prized in the 19th century for export to Europe and America, where they were admired as both functional tableware and decorative display objects.
