About the Item

A fine antique Chinese Export porcelain tea caddy. Decorated in cobalt with gilt highlights throughout. With a central gilt cartouch of crossed laurels to both sides with a monogram inside and a pair of cobalt lovebirds perched above. The original lid with a figural berry finial and gilt cobalt decoration throughout. The base and underside of the lid are both unglazed. Simply a wonderful antique Chinese porcelain tea caddy! Date: 18th Century Overall Condition: It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition Details: There is rubbing to the gilding throughout, especially to the shoulders and the lid. There are firing flaws where the berry meets the lid. Otherwise, there are some fine light scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Measurements: Height: ca. 5 5/8 in. Width: ca. 3 1/4 in. Depth: ca. 1 1/2 in.
