About the Item
A fine antique Chinese export porcelain ginger jar.
With a white ground and blue decoration.
With a depiction of a Chinese phoenix (Fènghuáng, 鳳凰) amongst the clouds, along with depictions of peacocks, mandarin ducks, and swallows around the circumference of the jar. The lid has two mandarin ducks swimming. The phoenix is considered to reign over all other birds in the mythology of the Chinese cultural sphere.
The rim of the lid, and the jar's rim
footrim are all decorated with a cloud pattern with an oscillating wavy line.
It bears an apocryphal Kangxi mark (康熙年製) to the base and was likely made during the Guangshu period (1875 - 1908)

It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition.
Condition Details:
There are losses to the glaze around the top of the lid, some slight fritting to the base of the lid where it rests on the jar, and some small spots of copper colored staining to the interior of the jar. Otherwise, there are some fine
light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age.
Marks:
Marked to the base with an apocryphal Kangxi mark (康熙年製).
