About the Item

This antique Imari porcelain plate dates to the late Edo–Meiji period (19th century) and is decorated with a lively scene of playful shishi (mythical lion-dogs) among blooming botan (peony) flowers. The harmonious composition and fine detailing make this plate an attractive and well-balanced example of traditional Japanese Imari ware. The plate remains in good original condition, showing minor surface abrasions consistent with age and use. Typical kiln imperfections from the period are present and are visible in the photographs, further confirming its authenticity.
