About the Item

A good antique Imperial Chinese Qing dynasty, Guangxu period yellow glazed and incised decorated dragon bowl, mark period, circa 1875. The bowl covered with an 'egg yolk' yellow glaze incised decoration to both the exterior interior, around the bowl there are two five toed Imperial dragons, each in pursuit of a flaming pearl amongst clouds fire scrolls, the interior base of the bowl also having incised decoration of an Imperial dragon. The base of the bowl having incised lappet decoration, the bowl having a raised circular foot, the bowl is mark and of the period, having a six character under glaze blue Guangxu mark (1875-1908). The bowl is in good condition, possibly one small area of historic restoration? A very similar yet smaller bowl Lot# 1066 sold at Christie's Chinese ceramics auction South Kensington, London, 18th May 2012 for 3,750 GBP ($5,000)

A good antique 18th century Ottoman Iznik/Kutayha pottery plate, circa 1750. The plate with a cream glaze ground, hand-painted with multi-colored floral motifs of under glaze blue, green & red. The plate is decorated with typical stylized tulips, carnations and Ottoman Saz leaves & blossoms. Iznik & Kutahya are towns in Turkey with an illustrious history of hundreds of years of fine pottery making, this type of pottery is characterized by it's fritware body often containing a high percentage of ground glass & fired at lower temperatures, a type of tin glazed earthenware, which was an attempt to imitate the high-fired glazes of Chinese porcelain. This plate dates to the middle of the 1700s by around 1800 the production of such pottery has ceased.
