About the Item

A fine antique Chinese Export Famille Rose lidded ginger jar / bojan. In a Famille Rose pattern with a palette primarily composed of rose, turquoise, yellow, orange, and pale blue In a stout, bulbous form with two large cartouches to either side with red peonies and birds within. Decorated throughout with floral and geometric devices. The rim and footrim both with colorful borders. The lid with a gilt finial and floral decoration. Simply a wonderful piece of Chinese porcelain! Date: Early 20th Century or earlier Overall Condition: It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition Details: There is significant rubbing to the gilt finial, some rubbing to the enamel here and there throughout, some enamel and glaze skips, a firing flaw to the underside of the lid, a firing flaw to the foot, and some light fritting here and there. Otherwise, there is some light edge wear, some fine light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Measurements: Height: ca. 9 1/2 in. Diameter: ca. 8 1/2 in.
