About the Item

A fine Chinese export porcelain teapot. With pink painted floral decoration throughout. The original spout has been replaced with a make-do fluted silver metal spout. There is an associated safety chain that connects the lid to both handle and spout. Marked to the underside of the lid with a faded and almost illegible 'Lowestoft' wax pencil mark. Simply a wonderful antique Chinese porcelain teapot! Date: 18th Century Overall Condition: It is in overall fair, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition Details: The original spout has been replaced with a make-do tin spout, which has some minor tears, dings, and bends. The handle has been reattached. There are hairline cracks to where the handle meets the body as well as a repaired crack to the lid. Otherwise, there are some fine light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Maker: Chinese Export Porcelain Marks: Faintly visible wax pencil Lowestoft mark to the underside of the lid. Measurements: Height: ca. 5 1/4 in. Length: ca. 8 5/8 in.
