A mid Century Chinese Export Cherry Blossom Geisha Riverboat
This plate is a marvelous example of a richly detailed, hand-painted porcelain plate featuring an elegant riverboat scene with kimono-clad women, this vintage piece evokes the romanticism of Japanese Edo-period aesthetics despite its “Made in China” mark. The central tableau is framed by a scalloped rim adorned with raised enamel scrollwork, florals, and gilt embellishments. Cherry blossoms, gently rippling water, and mountainous backdrops lend depth and serenity to the piece. Likely produced in the mid-20th century as an homage to traditional Satsuma or Kutani styles, this 10.5" display plate functions beautifully as a wall or cabinet showpiece.
