About the Item

This blue-and-white porcelain teapot dates to the early 20th century and would have been used as either a teapot for brewed tea or as a ewer for dispensing boiled water during tea ceremony. The provincial teapot is shaped with rounded sides, a curved spout and a narrow neck, affixed with simple handles of bent brass wire. The exterior is painted with cobalt blue underglaze against a cool, grey field, decorated with swirling clouds and round medallions of various patterns. Small chip to spout.
