About the Item
A lustrous glaze sheets across the paneled sides of this small Chinese storage jar, pooling into the low relief designs with deep, blue-green color. Sculpted in the early 19th century to store spices or kitchen goods, the earthenware jar has a squat, six-sided form decorated with stamped floral medallions and abstract scrollwork. Blistering to the glaze adds beautiful imperfection, flecked with iron-red color and textured by pitted wear and fine crazing.
