About the Item
This petite ceramic vessel is a Ming-dynasty (1368-1644) bottle originally used for storing cooking oil or condiments. Dated to the 15th/16th century, the bottle has a gracefully curved form known as yuhuchunping, or pear-shaped vase, sculpted with a rounded body, tapered neck and a wide, upturned rim. The small vase is minimally decorated, patterned with ridges left by the potter's fingers and finished with an ashen, off-white glaze of celadon tone.
