About the Item
An attractive antique Chinese altar candle holder decorated with a landscape and dating from around 1900. This stylish porcelain candle holder has a domed hollow base with an unglazed foot rim and with a funnel shaped central stem and wide round top with a raised edge, the top almost flat shape to catch the molten wax. The base is hand painted with figures and buildings within a continuous hilly and watery landscape with floral patterns to the stem and key pattern around the top rim. The scene is decoration is painted in underglaze blue against a white ground and the candle holder is not marked.
Provenance: Acquired from the UK Art Market
The candle holder is offered in good presentable condition with a small Kintsugi (golden repair) to the foot rim and with wear associated with age and use.
