About the Item
A wonderful green glaze typical of Chinese "Shiwan" pottery adorns this early 20th Century Chinese storage jar. Shiwan ware is a style of Chinese pottery from the Shiwanzhen district near Guangdong. In the modern-day, this would make for a beautiful decorative bowl or as a planter for one's home garden. The marks and stains to the jar which have developed over the past century contribute to its charm. A modern teak lid has been crafted to accompany this jar and features a sanded down green paint finish. A wonderful decorative object.
There are some shallow cracks on the interior basin, highlighted in the last image, however this pot still remains robust.
