About the Item
In this listing you will find an antique glazed pottery figure of a samurai, often associated with the Song Dynasty style (960–1279 AD). Similar figures are also known as tongzi (boy) figures and can sometimes be found in the Blanc de Chine or Dehua porcelain tradition, although those typically have a white glaze. The figure depicts a standing, muscular man with a prominent mustache and goatee, wearing a simple loincloth or belt, and carrying a sack or bag over his shoulder. Estimated to be made in the 18th century in China.
Figurine is in good antique condition.
