A Chinese Zhangzhou Round Porcelain Lidded Container, 17th Century
Provenance: Binh Thuan Shipwreck, Private Australian Collection.
Description:
The Binh Thuan shipwreck was first discovered in 2001 by Vietnamese fisherman while trying to unravel a trawl net caught in the wreckage. The wreck is believed to be from 1608. This is the first dedicated cargo of Chinese Zhangzhou porcelain to ever be found.
Container are about 11.5cm across and come with lids. Because of the age and history of the pieces, there are slight imperfections in color and finish. They were found at the bottom of the ocean, so this is what makes them interesting and unique. With label "BINH THUAN SHIPWRECK 21612".
