About the Item

This Chinese stool is a collectable piece and would have been a key piece of furniture used for various means in or outside the home. Chinese ceramics have a long and rich history, with techniques and styles evolving over centuries. By the 19th century, hand painted ceramic furniture was well-established this hand finished method adds to its artistic value. Unlike mass produced copies of later years, each piece would be unique with varied brushstrokes and details. Featured Temple Dogs (Foo Dogs or Lion Dogs) are stylized lion figures in Chinese art and symbolise protection and guardianship from evils typically for home or temple.
