Japanese Antique Pottery Edo Period 1600-1650 Old Vase of "Tamba"/Wabi-Sabi Jar

About the Item

We have an aesthetic sense peculiar to Japanese people. And we introduce the unique items that only we can do, the route of purchasing in Japan, the experience value so far, and the way that no one can imitate. It is a jar made in the early Edo period in Japan. This is a pottery called "Tamba ware". Tamba ware is located in Hyogo prefecture, Japan. It is a kiln that originated around the 11th century. This is a jar made in the early Edo period, that is, in the early 17th century. Although it is engraved, it is a stamp with the kanji "asakura-sansyo". I pickled a Japanese pepper named "asakura-sansyo" and put it in this jar. And this jar was presented to the shogun. It is very rare because it is a jar that was made only for a short period of time. It has a very beautiful glaze. And as a caveat -The photo is marked with a red line and a circle, and the red line indicates that the cracks on the surface have been repaired. -Also, there was a crack in the jar almost all around, so it has also been repaired (red circle). I think the previous owner fixed it in the past. -Also, there is a sticker (written as tamba-asakura-sansyo), which is also a sticker pasted by the previous owner. If you add a lot of water, it will leak. It is possible to put water about 3 to 4 cm in depth, and there is no leakage, but the bottom becomes damp. If possible, fill another container with water, put it in this jar and decorate the flowers. We have also posted materials for similar jars from Japanese masterpiece pictorial books. This is a highly recommended jar. It is difficult to get it even in Japan. I posted it on the 1st dibs because I want you to know about the wonderful Japanese pottery.

Description A Japanese Aoki Mokubei Jar. Edo Period. The inside base has a fish between the figures with gilt. A very powerfull piece and in our opinion most likely authentic by Aoki Mokubei (????) Mokubei AOKI (1767- July 2, 1833) was a painter and Kyo ware potter during the Edo Period . He was born in Kyoto . His childhood name was Yasoya. His Azana (alias) was Sahei. His pseudonyms included Seibei, Hyakurokusanjin, Kokikan, Teiunro, Kukurin, and Shubei. Biography Mokubei was born in 1767, in Kyoto . He studied calligraphy under Fuyo KO at a young age, showing great talent; however, when he found pottery, he opened a studio in Awataguchi, Kyoto at the age of 30 and won fame for his pottery. Five years later, he was invited by the Maeda Family of the Kaga clan, and he made efforts to revive Kaga Kutani ware. As a potter, he mainly produced green-tea sets. His pottery work is varied, including white porcelain, celadon, Akae ware (ceramic with red paintings) and dyed ceramics.
