A truly gorgeous, sumptuously, richly, and darkly glazed, hand-decorated large Japanese studio pottery charger. The craftsmanship is exquisite. The piece radiates in the light and features an abstract trailed glaze design. The work is very reminiscent of Japanese master potters Shoji Hamada and Toshiko Takaezu (the previous owner lived half of each year in Hawaii where Toshiko lived and collected both her and Hamada's works).
Possible marker's impressed mark/ chop signature along the edge of the lower rim (please see photos).

It is from the Arita/ imari kilns and dates to the early 20th century.
Notice the intricate detailed blue painting on white porcelain of this cat's eyes, body, necklace, and tail.
Dimensions: Big 15.5 inches tall and 7inches wide.

The Maneki-Neko (Japanese literally -beckoning cat) - is a common Japanese figurine (lucky charm, talisman) which is often believed to bring good luck to the owner. In Modern Times, they are usually made of ceramic or plastic. Wooden examples are few and far between. The figurine depicts a cat (traditionally a calico Japanese Bobtail) beckoning with an upright paw, and is usually displayed in—often at the entrance of—shops, restaurants, pachinko parlors, and other businesses. The pleasing natural green patina makes this bell special.
For your meditation , or special garden display comes this handsome 22 inch tall bronze bell. Its original old and natural dark green patination belies its importance and rarity.
Hard to find with its attractive patina- this is an authentic indication that this bell had actually hung for quite some time and had been used functionally.
At the top, the handle (ryûzu) is crafted in the form of two mirrored dragon heads.
Around the upper portion of the bell, the pronounced bosses Fu (chi) are arranged in five rows of five. Lower sections are surrounded by embossed cartouches with a flower-shaped striking panel (tsuki'za).
Dimensions: 22 inches tall and 12" inches diameter
