About the Item
Extraordinary Japanese contemporary hand-glazed decorative porcelain vase with high purity platinum gilding, an award-winning exhibition piece, a masterpiece by highly acclaimed master porcelain artist of the Arita-Imari region of Japan. This mesmerizing piece brings together the best of platinum gilding and the yusai techniques, which involve the multiple layering of different glazes that fuse together in reduction firing to creating haunting visions of depth and movement.
After the glazing and firing has been completed, the artist coats the entire outer surface of the vase with platinum. Then, in a process that takes scores of hours to complete, the artist patiently scrubs away at the platinum coating to reveal a tantalizing vision of platinum cascading down the vase.
The inner surface of the vase provides the artist with a canvas for showing off a stunning auspicious tenmoku pattern.
This magnificent masterpiece comes in a custom made wooden case signed by the artist.
