About the Item

Exceptional Japanese contemporary decorative porcelain vase, intricately hand-painted on a stunning egg-shape porcelain body in blue, red and green with extensive gold details, a signed masterpiece by highly acclaimed master porcelain artist, and recipient of numerous awards for his exceptional work and unique gold and platinum work on porcelain. In 2016, the British Museum added a work by this artist to its collection of contemporary Japanese porcelain in the Imari-Arita polychrome enamel tradition. This artist apprenticed himself to Inoue Manji, Japan’s living national treasure in the field of white porcelain. His mastery of the pure white porcelain base has been absolutely essential to his success in bringing out the unclouded luster of gold and platinum in his art. The artist's profile is available upon request. This magnificent vase showcass two panels with elegant scalloped borders depicting cherry blossoms in iron red, pink and gold on an elegantly shaped tree in cobalt blue, and peonies in iron red and gold on one side, and graceful peonies in iron-red, pink and gold with foliage in cobalt blue on the other side. The panels are surrounded by a breathtaking elegant extremely intricate geometric pattern in blue and green. The top is decorated by an attractive lattice pattern in iron-red and gold on a white background. The base is decorated with an arabesque pattern in iron-red, cobalt blue and gold on pure white background. The symphony of these exquisite designs masterfully put together on this beautifully shaped vase creates a truly captivating masterpiece. The striking shape, the sheer size and the exquisite patterns throughout its surface make this an awe-inspiring piece and the focal point of the space it occupies that invites the viewre to approach to enjoy the details of this magnificent piece. "Fired-on gold,” his signature style highlights unique techniques for incorporating gold and platinum into the hand painting on porcelain that combine exquisite hand-painted designs with generous use of gold and platinum and multiple firing processes, to produce a unique and stunningly opulent look. The polychrome overglaze is fired at 800 degrees, followed by the application of gold and platinum that are fired at slightly lower temperature to maintain the luster of the precious metals. As a result, a single piece may undergo as many as 5-10 firings. This exquisite hand painted egg-shape decorative porcelain vase comes in a custom-made wooden case signed by the artist.
