Exquisite Japanese contemporary matte hand-glazed signed decorative porcelain vase in an elegant shape, featuring signature pink, brown and blue colors by highly respected award-winning second generation master artist from the historic Arita-Imari region of Japan. Matting of a hand-glazed porcelain is a painstaking and time-consuming process. The piece goes through the artist's hand-glazing process first. The second step is removing the shiny outer layer of the glaze by rubbing the entire surface with stone, leaving a mesmerizing matte product that brings a different life to the artist's signature colors and patterns.
The artist works in the traditions of the Yohen style and techniques. Roughly translated as “alchemy of the kiln,” Yohen techniques make use of minute variations in closely-guarded glaze recipes and kiln temperatures to produce a unique and unpredictable palette of hues and patterns that manifest themselves in subtle but awe-inspiring gradations of color. Each color tone is the result of years of careful experimentation combined with a fleeting moment of what is often described as nothing other than pure luck.
This stunning piece makes optimal use of a series of free-running glazes to create a stunning contrast of the artist's signature colors to create a stunning scene of volcanos and lava.
