About the Item
Exquisite contemporary Japanese museum quality decorative porcelain vase, hand painted on an elegant bottle shape porcelain body in red and blue, with extremely intricate patterns and extensive use of gold, creating a beautiful palette with layers of transparent colors that can only be achieved by the old elaborate technique used in this piece. This piece is an exclusive signature masterpiece by highly acclaimed master porcelain artist and recipient of numerous awards for his exceptional porcelain work and unique gold and platinum work on porcelain.
This old technique that combines different elements of extremely intricate painting, with colors and depth that create a pallet that is flawlessly organic and makes the viewer wonder about the sequence of the artist’s work on this piece. The technique involves numerous challenges at different stages of painting as well as firing. For this reason and the enormous amount of time needed to create one piece, this technique is rarely used by today’s porcelain artists. The artist’s profile is available upon request.
This vase depicts an elegant Japanese bottle showcasing a bottle pattern with auspicious traditional Arita/Imari patterns in blue, red and gold, set against a stunning mosaic of extremely intricate karakusa pattern created by finely drawn lines of gold. This produces a stunning dream-like illusion of a “transparent” canvas on which fully articulated traditonal patterns appear to be floating. A stunning intricate wave pattern in blue underglaze decorates the top of the vase and artist’s signature appears on the reverse side.
This exceptional porcelain vase comes in a custom made wooden case signed by the artist.
Dimensions: H 12 in, D 9 in
“Fired-on gold.” The artist’s signature style highlights unique techniques for incorporating gold and platinum into the hand painting and multiple firing processes that yield a stunningly opulent look. The polychrome overglaze is fired at 800 degrees, followed by the application of gold and platinum that are fired at slightly lower temperature to maintain the luster of the precious metals. As a result, a single piece may undergo as many as 5-10 firings.
