About the Item

A fine antique Chinese celadon porcelain bowl. With white accents highlights against a pale green celadon body. The bowl has a slightly scalloped rim with a white border. The piece is decorated throughout with white depictions of clouds and winds. The base of the bowl also has simple/primitive ocean waves, reminiscent of the modern seigaiha (青海波) pattern that evolved from ancient Chinese depictions of the ocean. Simply a great piece of Chinese celadon porcelain! Date: 20th Century or earlier Overall Condition: It is in overall fair, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition Details: There is a star crack to the base of the bowl visible both front and back, some hairline cracks to the base, significant wear to the glaze, significant scratches, noticeable firing flaws, and some light staining. Otherwise, there are some fine light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Maker: Unknown Marks: Unmarked Measurements: Diameter: ca. 10 in. This is a very old interesting Chinese stoneware Longquan Celadon bowl or plate with incised decoration, which we date to the Yuan Dynasty, circa 1300.
