About the Item

This is a highly decorative pair of antique Chinese or Thai Roof Tiles. The tiles are glazed in a gorgeous shade of mustard-yellow and are in very good original condition. They are mounted on high-end museum style mounts making them exceptional book shelf decorations or mantel pieces or any other type of placement. This is an uncommon form of roof tile in a stylized organic form. Asian design elements integrate well into multiple design aesthetics from mid-century or contemporary to period 18th century design. The neutral but eye-catching mustard yellow allows these roof tiles to blend into any color scheme.

Pair of Monumental Hand-Carved Koi Table Bases
Located in Sarasota, FL
A commanding pair of hand-carved hardwood table bases featuring expressive koi or mythological fish rising upright from squared plinths. Their highly detailed features—arched tails, deeply incised scales, fan-like fins, and stylized expressions—create an incredible sense of movement and artistry. Likely crafted for export during the late 19th to early 20th century, the forms draw on both Eastern and Western design language. The koi, long revered in Chinese symbolism as icons of prosperity, endurance, and transformation, are paired here with a dramatic sculptural presence that evokes Victorian maximalism. These bases are versatile in application—ideal as supports for a custom marble or glass dining table, or used separately as twin console tables...
