About the Item

Offered here is a pair of antique Chinese porcelain ginger jars, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century, beautifully hand-painted in rich iron red enamel with a scrolling floral design on a white ground. Each jar displays elegant symmetry and balanced decorative composition, characteristic of the late Qing to early Republic period. Both jars were converted into lamps in the past, resulting in a small drilled hole at the top of each lid and one on the side of each jar. Despite these modifications, the bodies remain in very good condition, free from cracks, hairlines, or major restorations. Around the lid areas, there are a few minor age-related glaze lines, typical for pieces of this age and use, but they do not affect the structural integrity or visual appeal. Each jar measures approximately 7 inches tall and 8¾ inches wide. The bases bear a six-character mark, likely an apocryphal mark referencing an earlier imperial reign, which was common practice among skilled porcelain makers during the late Qing period. These matching jars present beautifully as a decorative pair and would make an excellent addition to any collection of Chinese porcelain, Qing dynasty ceramics, or Asian decorative arts. Dimensions (each): Height: 7 inches Width: 8¾ inches Condition: Very good overall condition; no cracks or hairlines on the body. Minor glaze age lines around lid rims. Holes on top and sides from prior lamp conversion. Period: Late 19th to early 20th century, Qing to early Republic era
