About the Item

In this listing you will find a pair of Antique Ceramic Foo Dogs done in ceramic as joss sticks (incense) holders, indicated by the small opening at the top of their heads. Foo dogs are not actually dogs, but lions, and are considered powerful symbols of protection in Chinese culture. They are finished in a vibrant green glaze. The green glaze color is highly symbolic and represents good fortune. They are always displayed in a pair, representing a balance of energies (yin and yang). Made in China in 19th century. The foo dogs are in overall good antique condition with some signs of time and use, such as small chips. When purchased the figurines will be carefully wrapped up and packed in a way to avoid any damages in transport. As soon as shipped you will receive the tracking number for your package. If you have any additional questions regarding this piece please feel free to contact me. Happy shopping!
