About the Item

A Pair of Imari Vases, 19th Century Provenance: Private Australian Collection. Description: Each with an octagonal everted rim alternating between cobalt bands centred by two plums and a red band with a scrolling floral clasp, descending to main body adorned by two escutcheon form panels depicting plum tree decoration, between a white ground surrounded with red floral motifs and centred by a cobalt hexagonal mon comprising three plums, with further full and partial mon designs of conforming motif to both the shoulders and surmounting the thin lower band of alternating red and cobalt panels to the base, the whole in the Imari palette.
