Iznik & Kutahya are towns in Turkey with an illustrious history of hundreds of years of fine pottery making, this type of pottery is characterized by it's fritware body often containing a high percentage of ground glass & fired at lower temperatures, a type of tin glazed earthenware, which was an attempt to imitate the high-fired glazes of Chinese porcelain.
This plate dates to the middle of the 1700s by around 1800 the production of such pottery has ceased. This plate is in good condition, no cracks or chips, expected small amounts of glaze loss to the edges, the makers mark is on the verso in the form of an under glaze flower head. The cover crisply decorated in a line drawing of cobalt depicting a central floral medallion from which radiate six foliate petals, the sides with six peaked cartouche containing alternating patterns of waves and leafy tendrils. The design perfectly aligning over the well fitting lid to the body.
Condition: One tiny popped blister on the lid, minor rim frits, otherwise excellent condition.

Antique Thai Frog Shaped Kendi, Sawankhalok Kilns, Si Satchanalai.
A squat globular stoneware body of good size having a narrow upright neck and everted mouth. The short narrow spout has the shape of an imagined frog snout. The modeled details include bulging eyes, ridge lines demarcating the spine, outline of the trunk and the legs with small webbed feet. The pot is glazed overall in a rich brown glaze lightly pitted from burial which stops short of the well trimmed foot rim revealing the beige colored biscuit.
Condition: Excellent with no knowledge or evidence of any restorations.
Age: 13th/14th century.
Size: 5.5 inches high x 5.5 inches in diameter (14 x 14cm).
Weight: 1 lb. 10.5 oz. (753g.)

A sublime and rare pair of Chinese white glazed porcelain figures of Guanyin, attributed to Tang Ying (1682 - 1756), Qing Dynasty, Qianlong Period, China.
This ethereal pair of white glazed porcelain figures depict the revered Buddhist Goddess of Mercy, Guanyin. Guanyin is portrayed standing, wearing heavy robes that drape beautifully around her figure. Bare feet peek out from under the hem of the robes. Her hair piled in a high chignon and covered by a cowl. The treatment of the hair, finely textured, unglazed, and with remnants of darker pigment, is typical of works by Tang Yin (1682 - 1756), who was the head of the imperial porcelain works at Jingdezhen.
Guanyin's beatific face is set in a serene smile, with a small, flat nose, and downcast, heavily lidded, almond shaped eyes. A simple beaded necklace graces her chest. Her hands held out, and may have once held attributes.
The hands were originally removable, but have since been permanently attached.
The figures crafted of a fine porcelain and glazed all over in a supple white glaze.
One figure bears a label from the Rafi Mottahedeh collection to the back.
