About the Item
From a small collection of five Persian hand painted pottery vases is this stylish earthenware bottle shaped vase hand painted with a hen and cockerel amidst flowering stems and dating from the early to mid 20th century. The rounded vase stands on a rounded unglazed pedestal foot and is decorated in colored enamels on a white ground with a hen and cockerel set amidst tall flowering stems. The vase has a narrow rounded funnel shaped neck with the painted designs run up to the top edge. The slightly recessed base is glazed and the vase is not marked.
In good presentable condition with a chipping around the foot and top rims with customary firing faults.
