About the Item
From a small collection of five Persian hand painted pottery vases is this stylish pair of earthenware rectangular shaped vases hand painted with birds and fish amidst flowering stems and dating from the early to mid-20th century. The rectangular vases are decorated on two sides in colored enamels on a white ground both with variations of birds perched on a flowering stem and the other side with a leaping fish set against flowering stems with similarly painted end panels with tall flowering stems. The vase has a flat top with a narrow round funnel shaped neck with a ring top and the shoulders are painted with leaves. The bases are unglazed, and the vases are not marked.
In good presentable condition with a fine age crazing to the glazes finish pronounced around the neck of one vase however only to the glazed surface. They have the usual irregularities of these handmade pieces.
