About the Item

A finely hand-painted mid-20th century Chinese porcelain vase decorated in vibrant famille rose enamels. One side depicts a lively equestrian scene of a warrior and attendant restraining a spirited horse, while the reverse bears an original poetic inscription composed by the decorator (zi shi 自詩, “my own verse”). Executed in the refined fencai palette with soft pinks, greens, and purples, the design shows great attention to detail in the faces, textiles, and landscape. Accented with underglaze-blue borders and a gilt rim. The base bears an apocryphal blue enamel six-character Qianlong reign mark (Da Qing Qianlong Nian Zhi), typical of Republic-period Jingdezhen porcelains paying tribute to earlier Qing masterpieces.
