About the Item

Gorgous and very Delicate six-piece tea or coffee set made of Japanese Satsuma porcelain. Cherry, blue, and ochre colors predominate. The main motif features the goddess Kannon surrounded by Buddhist monks. Goddess of compassion, venerated for her symbolism of mercy and her commitment to helping living beings. Japanese Satsuma porcelain comes from the province located on the island of Kyushu. The history of this type of porcelain begins in the 17th century, when Prince Shimazu Yoshihiro invited various artisans to settle in the region. These artisans introduced different decoration and glazing techniques. During the Edo period (1603-1868), this porcelain enjoyed a great popularity and began to be quite popular both in Japan and abroad. It became a symbol of status and refinement, highly prized by the Japanese aristocracy and by European and American collectors. This type of porcelain has a smooth, creamy glaze, sometimes decorated with intricate hand-painted designs. The decorative motifs are usually human figures, natural landscapes, flowers, and birds. They can also be embellished with reliefs or gold and silver appliqués, which add luxury and sophistication. This set features the figure of a Japanese lady or Geisha, which can only be seen against the light at the bottom of the cups. The reliefs on this coffee set are hand-painted using the Japanese "moriage" technique. This technique requires considerable time and dedication, as layers of glaze are applied on top of each other to create three-dimensional effects. The technique began to be used in the 1700s and was used on Japanese pieces until the end of the 18th century, but began to be exported to the United States starting in 1880. Moriage was a favorite motif of the Japanese period (1890–1921), and Japanese manufacturers continued to use this technique until the 1960s. Romantic orange green Quinta Nova Porcelain Dinnerware set 43 pieces
By Vista Alegre
Located in Valladolid, ES
Gorgeous porcelain tableware from the Portuguese firm Quinta Nova, renowned for its fine porcelain. Its meticulously painted floral design combines warm tones of orange and green on a pearly white background, evoking a romantic yet contemporary touch. The edges of the pieces feature a wavy shape with a fine gold trim, enhancing their decorative character. The floral ornamentation, with intertwined branches and flowers in full bloom, recalls 19th-century botanical motifs, inspired by Rococo art and Victorian design. The balance between the gold details and the softness of the floral brushstrokes make this tableware ideal for a more classic decor style or a more modern setting. Stamped on the base of each piece. Tray table incorporating Chines Porcelain pattern, British East India Company
By Margaret Fitzhugh Browne
Located in Valladolid, ES
Technical data Materials: Porcelain tray, wooden legs Period: Qing Dynasty Country of origin: China Good condition for its age and use, with some flaws in the wooden structure Overall dimensions: 70 x 95 x 80 cm Porcelain dimensions: 70 x 58 cm Exquisite Fitzhugh pattern porcelain plate or tray, inlaid in a cabinet that highlights its oval profile and raised on four slightly curved square legs. The term "Fitzhugh" refers to a type of Chinese export porcelain produced primarily between 1780 and 1840, featuring blue and white designs. It originated with three members of two generations of the Fitzhugh family. Members of this family held important positions as ship captains and even as directors in the British East India Company. Within this company, high-ranking officials were allowed to engage in private trade. Between 1704 and the 1790s, porcelain pieces bearing this pattern were shipped to England. The design usually includes a central medallion, although it is occasionally replaced by a coat of arms or monogram. The medallion is surrounded by four groupings of flowers representing the four seasons—peony for spring; lotus for summer; chrysanthemum for autumn; and prunus for winter—and symbols that typically represent the four virtues of the Chinese scholar: music, painting, logical thinking, and calligraphy. The design is framed with a decorative border that may be a lattice and spearhead pattern, sometimes known by the term "Nanking," or a more elaborate border featuring butterflies, honeycomb shapes, and floral ornamentation. The definition of the Fitzhugh porcelain...
