About the Item

These are a beautiful set of FIVE circular Chinese porcelain, blue and white berry bowls, all hand painted, which we date to the mid 20th Century. All five bowls are well potted on a mid height foot, with a soft off white glaze having a slight blue tinge. They have a very good ring to them when tapped with a finger. The bowls are of a lotus form and are all hand painted in varying shades of underglaze blue. They are decorated to the outside in a free flowing manner with the type of decoration seen on similar bowls from the Tec Sing Shipwreck Cargo of the early 19th Century. The insides are also hand painted with a motif to the base, double circles to the inside mid point and a further circle to the top inner rim. The base of each bowl has an underglaze blue four character Jingdezhen- Jiangxi mark, relating to where they were made. Overall a beautiful set of FIVE hand decorated blue and white Chinese bowls for display or use at the Dinner table.
