About the Item
This is a very old excavated pottery made around the Tang Dynasty in China.
During the Tang Dynasty, colored pottery called Sancai appeared.
There are various colors such as yellow, blue, white, and green, but it is called Tang Sancai because it is mainly expressed on pottery with three colors.
This uses three colors: green, brown, and white.
If the adhesion between the glaze and the clay is not strong, it will peel off like this after being buried in the soil for many years.
It is thought that the original color was like the reference photo in the art book posted later in the article.
It seems that there was also a lid, but in most cases the lid is missing.
This one has peeled off the glaze, but the main body remains with almost no major cracks. (However, there are missing parts of the upper part and each of the legs. Please see the detailed image.)
This is a typical Tang Dynasty grave goods jar with three animal legs.
It has a very beautiful design.
The glaze is transparent, and although it is difficult to see in the photo, it is characterized by countless fine cracks.
It is thought to date from the 9th century, or earlier, around the 8th century.
As the glaze has peeled off, this vase has lost its perfect beauty and now stands in the realm of wabi-sabi.
While maintaining its neat shape, the way the surface has decayed gives it a different kind of beautiful charm.
Also, because it is an excavated item, there is soil stuck to the inside of the vase.
Even if you look hard enough, you will probably not find anything as attractive as this.
Why not place this attractive vase in your favorite place?
Weight: 1.3 kg
