About the Item

This low display table exemplifies Qing-dynasty refinement with simplicity of form and minimal ornamentation. Crafted of walnut with mortise-and-tenon joinery, the 19th-century pedestal features a plank top surface raised upon short, inset legs linked with straight stretchers. The elegant form is decorated only by remnants of the original dark lacquer finish and a beaded trim that outlines the apron and legs. Beautifully faded with timeworn texture, the table is ideal today as a display stand for sculpture or porcelain, or as an elevated serving tray for tea or drinks.
