About the Item
A large and very decorative Chinese, late Qing Dynasty gilt-decorated and red lacquer wood box and cover dating for the mid to late 19th century.
The front and sides of the box with cut-outs and mesh and gilt-decorated with beehive patter, the top of the box with elaborate decoration featuring palatial scenes with a mountainous landscape in the background.
This box shows lacquer losses ( exposing the wood on the top front corners), discolorations, an age-related crack on the back of the cover. I is being sold 'as is' and was priced accordingly.
