A beautifully matched pair of Japanese hibachi (traditional fire bowls) from the Meiji period (1868–1912), showcasing exceptional craftsmanship and refined aesthetics. Each vessel is carved from richly grained hardwood, possibly zelkova or keyaki, and elegantly adorned with an intricate inlay of bamboo stalks and leaves rendered in colored lacquer, metal, and raden (mother-of-pearl).
The glowing natural tones of the wood contrast gracefully with the shimmering inlays, creating a serene and harmonious composition that celebrates nature—a core theme in Japanese decorative arts. The bamboo motif symbolizes strength, resilience, and longevity, making this pair especially meaningful as a decorative or symbolic addition to an interior.
