About the Item

A rare antique Chinese red lacquer desk box of cove sided rectangular base with three lidded compartments each with "shou" symbol in cartouche, key fret decorated border, all finely inlaid with mother-of-pearl, probably early 20th century. The purpose of this box is still remains a mystery, possibly stamp box, jewelry box or storage box, but it is very fine decorative object. The box measures 14 1/2"- inches wide x 8 1/4"- inches deep x 3"- inches high.
