About the Item

Antique Chinese Bronze Royal Dragons Sculpted Vase - Pair  This pair of 19th century bronze vases are decorated with sculpted Imperial royal dragons. The dragon in Chinese culture is a symbol of power. Since the Ming Dynasty, dragons were a symbol only emperors could use. Improperly displaying this symbol was considered treason punishable not only by the death of the perpetrator, but also all of his family clan. Consequently pieces such as this only came from the Royal Palace. ***Signed on the bottom.
