About the Item
An antique Japanese, late Meiji era, enamel over copper charger plate. The plate is adorned with a polychrome scene with a rooster and a chicken on a pond with blossoming flowers and trees on the turquoise ground made in the Cloisonne technique. The border features traditional butterfly, foliage, and floral motifs made in the same technique. The backside is decorated with a swirl motif made in the Cloisonne technique.
