About the Item
A stylish and impressive antique Chinese Qing bronze sauce boat decorated with cranes and dating from the 19th century. The sauce boat has been created in an archaic style and stands raised on three molded mask feet and is of oval shape with an extended pouring spout to one end and a molded flat scroll pattern handle applied to the opposite side. The body of the jug is decorated with three flying cranes set against a vertical linear molding. The jug has a three-character mark to the base set within a raised rectangular frame.
Provenance: Acquired from the UK Art Market
The jug is offered in good presentable condition and has a wonderful, aged patina. There is a small, filled section to the side of the pouring spout and a small element of filling to the edge although does not detract.
