About the Item
An important early Meiji Japanese cloisonne enamel charger on the rare white ground, 17.5 inches in diameter. The central medallion shows a finely detailed pheasant set among bamboo and luxuriant flowers, attended by butterflies in flight. The rim is finished with a crisp geometric border and a draping lappet motif that accentuates the circular form. White ground examples from this period are scarce and technically demanding, making this charger a desirable addition for collectors and designers seeking an authentic statement piece of Meiji artistry. Presents beautifully on a stand, with minimal age related wear consistent with careful display.

Condition: overall good condition a little dirty from age. Missing enamel to the top back part.
