About the Item
A JAPANESE SIGNED KATANA SWORD. Comprising a Japanese katana signed. The blade is signed "Ikeda Kishinmaru Kunishige" 池田鬼神丸国重. Ura side of the nakago states Oite Bushu Edo saku kore, meaning Made in Musashi province in the city of Edo. The blade shape is shinogi-zukuri with no habaki, and the blade has a kizu (flaw). The mountings are mismatched with a WWII metal saya with an older tsuba of chrysanthemum inlaid in gold and older fuchi/kashira and menuki. The dark brown ito is damaged. The overall length of the blade (tip of the blade to tip of tang) is 33 inches (83.75 cm), and the length of the cutting edge is 25 inches (63.5 cm).
