About the Item
Traditional pair of late 19th/ early 20th Century Brass or Bronze bells commonly referred to as Elephant Bells although bells of this size were more likely used for the gigantic Water Buffalo. The Bells are housed in a thick bent rattan, water buffalo hide and wood housing. With a primitive and organic presentation, the simply engraved bells House a cloth covered wood clapper and have a deep sonorous tone when struck.
Dimensions: 17.5” high by 15.5” wide by 6.25” deep.
Condition: Please see detail photos. The bells and their housing are timeworn with many desirable signs of age including finish losses, chips and finish loss to the wood sections, breakers to the upper support bars and general expected wear resulting in a particularly fine age patina with the bells presenting in a Primitive and Organic manner.
