About the Item
The family comprises of a very large elephant and three smaller examples each walking and all dressed in traditional Indian style. The elephants are cast in bronze, and each is draped with a large, patterned tapestry rug with various floral and leaf designs and decorated in colored enamels. Further designs are applied to the heads with hanging tassels and with drapes running down the trunks, again patterned and colored. The elephants have well detailed heads and proportions and have trimmed tusks. The elephants are typically not marked. The smallest elephant measures 7cm Tall and 8.5cm in length.
Provenance: Acquired in the UK Art Market.
Offered in good condition with wear associated with age and use. With some rubbing to the colored patterning.
