A Large Jet Black Japanese Meiji Period Cloisonné Enamel Vase
An elegant Meiji period Japanese cloisonné vase of ovoid form with a gently flared neck finely decorated on a rich black ground. The body features a beautifully composed design of birds in flight and perched among flowering branches, including peonies and other seasonal blooms, all rendered in soft pinks, greens, and browns with intricate silver wirework. A single delicate butterfly flutters near the blossoms, enhancing the naturalistic charm of the composition.
The decoration is set against a lustrous jet-black enamel background creating striking contrast and visual depth. The neck and foot are bordered with finely executed stylized floral scrolls in pale blue, cream, and muted rose, enclosed by gilt rims, interior and bottom is enamelled in a vibrant turquoise blue
Excellent condition, no damage or restoration and minimal surface wear.
