About the Item

Rare and spectacular Masuo Ikeda bronze vessel / vase with gold details. It is a limited edition, 28/30 and it is signed. Comes with its original wooden box (tomobako). Ikeda Masuo ( 池田 満寿夫 ) was a pluridisciplinary artist : painter, movie-maker, writer, ceramist, metalworker, illustrator and sculptor. The prefecture of Nagano has its own museum dedicated to him : the Ikeda Masuo Art Museum. His work has been exhibited in the world's most prestigious art museums such as the MoMA and the Smithsonian. Ikeda's artistic thinking, which had been focused solely on Western art history, changed after he began to make ceramics and metalwork. Having previously focused on Western painting and sculpture, Ikeda began to take a renewed interest in Japanese Jomon and Yayoi earthenware, Raku tea bowls, and Oribe. Influenced by Sotatsu Tawaraya and Korin Ogata, he began to use gold and silver colors in his work.

Bronze Vase by Lupo Horiōkami
Located in Geneve, CH
Bronze vase by Lupo Horio¯kami Dimensions: Diameter 20 x height 30 cm Materials: Bronze medium acid “The artwork [...] arises when the mind is willing to accept reality as it was the first time it meets it” (“aesthetics of the void”, g. pasqualotto, marsilio). And if the futurists no longer wanted to have any relationship with the past but to concentrate on the dynamic present, lupo horiokami, with his art, seems to want to focus on the theme of continuous impermanence. East and west in comparison, in a synthesis where space (emptiness) and time (inconsistent) are the masters, where relativity and emptiness (“mu” in zen buddhism) merge with heidegger’s planning of “dasein”. Lupo’s emancipation naturally translates into space. Empty space, in the most eastern sense of the term, devoid of mental conditionings (“mushin” in japanese...
